Halloween Marketing for Small Businesses: A Weekend Campaign Plan (2026)

Halloween is on Saturday, October 31, 2026. You do not need a large advertising budget or weeks of production to run a useful campaign. You need one genuinely relevant offer, a place to send interested customers, and a short plan you can execute and measure.

Start with one real offer—not a vague seasonal theme

Pick the action your business actually wants: bookings, event attendance, in-store visits, digital downloads or enquiries. A costume contest, a spooky product photo or AI-made soundtrack is only useful if it supports that job.

Business Simple Halloween campaign Primary measure
Local café Show a real seasonal menu item and actual hours; invite a visit. In-store orders or redemptions
Service provider Show availability for a relevant appointment or seasonal service. Qualified bookings
Independent artist Demonstrate one original spooky release or creative experience. Listening or product-page visits
Digital product shop Show exactly what is included in one Halloween download. Product-page clicks and purchases
Community venue Publish confirmed event details, accessibility notes and entry terms. Registrations or enquiries

Important: Do not invent scarcity, customer reviews, sold-out claims, discounts, or results. In Canada, material marketing claims and offer conditions must not mislead consumers. Competition Bureau guidance

Friday, October 30: set up and publish the useful details

  1. Choose one offer and its actual terms. Write the eligible items, real price, any expiry and restrictions before designing graphics.
  2. Choose one destination. Use a relevant product page, booking page, event registration page or clear contact method—not an unrelated homepage.
  3. Make two honest creative assets. One clear product or service photo and one short vertical video, using real examples wherever possible.
  4. Publish an informative post. State what is available, who it serves, when and where, and the next action.
  5. Check mobile. Open the destination on your phone; confirm the price, stock or appointment availability and the contact path.

Local business option: If your business has an eligible, verified Google Business Profile, Google allows Updates, Offers and Events posts. Its Offer format includes dates and conditions; an Event format includes event times. Check your post status rather than assuming it appears instantly. Official Google Business Profile post guidance

Saturday, October 31: show the real experience

  1. Morning: post one genuinely useful reminder with accurate opening hours, delivery timing or event information.
  2. During your event or selling window: publish a behind-the-scenes photo or short Reel showing a real product, preparation, team member (with permission) or customer experience (with consent).
  3. Reply promptly: answer practical questions about ordering, access, locations, delivery or refunds.
  4. Adjust only what is true: if a product is sold out or a slot is taken, update the landing page and public messaging.
  5. Make one simple note: record the time and channel of posts plus real enquiries or orders that followed.

Vertical Reels with legible on-screen messages, quality audio and a clear safe zone are consistent with Meta's creative guidance. Use appropriately licensed audio for commercial promotion. Meta Reels guidance

Sunday, November 1: follow up and keep what worked

Halloween may be over, but useful follow-up matters. Don't keep advertising a Friday or Saturday offer as though it's still active.

  1. Thank customers and community participants without manufacturing testimonials.
  2. Remove or correct expired event details and offers.
  3. Answer outstanding customer questions and fulfil orders.
  4. Compare actual outcomes: visits to the offer, meaningful enquiries, bookings, sales and the time spent preparing the campaign.
  5. Save one reusable photo, post structure and what you learned for your next seasonal promotion.

After-action note: “Our best-performing action was ___ because ___; next time we will keep ___ and change ___.” You can use this without sophisticated analytics.

Four promotional copy templates you can adapt

1. Friday announcement

“Halloween weekend is here. We're offering [actual product or service] for [verified price or terms] until [accurate date/time]. Here's what you get: [two concrete details]. Details: [direct link].”

2. Saturday short Reel

“Here's what [your business] looks like this Halloween. [Show genuine preparation, service or product.] We're open/available [actual times]. See the details at [link].”

3. Useful last-chance reminder

“If you've been considering [offer], this is a reminder that [actual deadline] is approaching. Check availability and full terms here: [link].”

4. Sunday follow-up

“Thanks for spending part of Halloween weekend with us. Our favourite moment was [real detail]. Here's what happens next: [fulfilment update or next useful resource].”

Use natural business language, not generic AI urgency. Replace every bracket with confirmed facts before posting.

Where AI genuinely helps—and where it doesn't

Useful: adapt one verified offer into short and long versions, suggest visual directions, make a draft Reel shot list, identify missing customer questions and organize a results log.

Not useful: generating photos that falsely depict your actual product, fake customers, imaginary store crowds, fabricated reviews or “last five available” messaging that you cannot support. If you use AI visuals, avoid creating a misleading impression about what buyers receive.

Example instruction: “Using only the verified offer facts below, draft one 80-word Facebook announcement and one 15-second Reel storyboard. Do not invent prices, stock, availability, customer reviews, or deadlines. Flag any missing information instead.”

The tiny campaign scoreboard

Use a simple record before paying for analytics or ads:

Campaign: ________

Offer URL: ________

Time spent preparing: ________

Content published: ________

Meaningful enquiries / signups: ________

Purchases / bookings: ________

Revenue and directly attributable costs: ________

Best customer question: ________

Change for next time: ________

Don't treat a high view count as profit. Likewise, don't claim a promotion succeeded because one piece of content gained impressions. Connect outcomes to the actual business objective whenever possible.

Go deeper: turn a weekend post into a repeatable creator campaign

Once the first weekend is complete, move from posting content to understanding what people responded to. Use three versions of one real message: a practical explanation, a product demonstration and an audience question. Compare meaningful actions; keep the strongest and refine one weak component at a time.
