How to Turn an AI Music Library Into a Release-Ready Artist Catalogue

A folder full of generations is not a catalogue. This lesson helps you inventory, compare, group and prioritize your strongest songs until every serious track has one approved version, one status and one next action.

What is a release-ready AI music catalogue?

A release-ready catalogue is an organized inventory of approved tracks with clear versions, project roles, rights status, metadata readiness and next actions.

It is not the total number of songs generated. A starter catalogue of six to ten controlled tracks is usually more useful than hundreds of unreviewed outputs. This milestone measures control, not volume.

Create one master inventory

Use one row per serious song. Record the working title, approved version, creation and revision dates, identity fit, signature-sound fit, current status, project role, rights status, audio/art/metadata readiness and one next action.

Use statuses that force a decision

  • Release ready: approved master and complete release record.
  • Develop next: strong concept with one defined repair.
  • Project candidate: belongs to a possible EP or album.
  • Campaign-only: useful hook, instrumental or alternate asset.
  • Archive: worth keeping but not active.
  • Reject: no longer belongs to this artist.

Compare tracks by role

The most exciting song is not automatically the best first single. Score identity fit, listener entry point, hook strength, technical readiness, visual potential and campaign usefulness. Choose one lead single, one follow-up that proves range, a possible four-song EP group and the tracks that need development.

Use the Academy method

  1. Choose: define the artist and catalogue period.
  2. Gather: collect serious songs, lyrics, exports and notes.
  3. Create: build the inventory and provisional statuses.
  4. Compare: score identity, role and readiness.
  5. Record: save one approved version and action per track.
  6. Decide: select the starter catalogue and release order.
  7. Continue: move the lead single into Milestone 5.

Worked example: 27 generations become eight controlled tracks

Ember Vale begins with 27 saved songs and duplicate versions. Only 16 are complete compositions. Five do not fit the artist, three repeat stronger ideas and two lack usable source records.

Glass Halo becomes the lead single, Static Garden the follow-up, four connected songs form the early After the Signal EP group, and two tracks receive one specific development task.

Approved result: Eight active tracks remain. Each has one approved version, one project role, one evidence status and one next action.

Act as a music-catalogue editor. I will provide AI-assisted songs, versions, lyrics and readiness notes. Identify duplicates and missing information. Score each serious track for identity fit, signature-sound fit, hook strength, technical readiness, visual potential and role. Assign exactly one status: release ready, develop next, project candidate, campaign-only, archive or reject. End with a proposed first single, second single, four-song EP group and missing evidence list.

Approval standard

Score completeness, version control, decision quality, project coherence and actionability. Approve at 20 out of 25 with no score below 3.

Common mistakes

  • Counting generations instead of approved songs.
  • Keeping every version active.
  • Choosing the first single only because it is newest.
  • Using maybe as a permanent status.
  • Ignoring rights gaps until distribution.
  • Auditing without choosing a release sequence.

Troubleshooting

What if I have hundreds of songs?

Begin with the most recent 30 or the songs already considered for release. Mark the rest unreviewed.

What if two versions are equally strong?

Choose the version that best serves the intended role and keep the alternate for a campaign or extended edition.

Milestone 4 completion checklist

  • One master inventory exists.
  • Every active song has one approved version and status.
  • Rights and source status are recorded.
  • Identity and readiness are scored.
  • The lead single, follow-up and EP group are identified.
  • Every active track has one next action.
  • The score is at least 20 out of 25.

Completion statement: I transformed my AI music library into a controlled artist catalogue with project roles and a clear release sequence.

Frequently asked questions

How many songs count as a catalogue?

There is no fixed number. Six to ten controlled tracks create a practical starter catalogue.

Should unfinished songs be included?

Yes, when they have a strong role and one defined repair. They are not release ready.

Should rejected songs be deleted?

Deletion is optional. Remove them from the active view and preserve anything needed for records.

What makes a song release ready?

The approved audio, lyrics, artwork, metadata, rights record and campaign handoff must be complete for the intended use.
