Winnipeg passenger-driver requirements for 2026
- Age and licence: Uber's Winnipeg passenger-driver page lists 21+ and a valid Manitoba driver's licence in an accepted class, including 5F.
- Screening: a driver's abstract, a police information check with vulnerable-sector screening and a Child Abuse Registry application.
- Car inspection: a Certificate of Inspection (COI) issued by an MPI-approved Vehicle Inspection Safety Station, plus registration, insurance and other required vehicle documents.
- New 2026 training: Winnipeg rideshare drivers must complete Accessible Transportation Training, Vehicles for Hire Professional Driver Training and Cultural Competency Training. Uber currently says all three certificates must be uploaded within 90 days of the first passenger trip to remain eligible.
- Schedule and fees: Uber's posted amounts and the city's current course availability may differ or change. Confirm the courses and booking arrangements before committing to dates or paying.

Passenger driving and Uber Eats are not the same signup
This is the first thing to get right. Passenger rideshare is more heavily regulated and usually adds licence-class, screening, inspection, insurance or local bylaw requirements. Delivery-only work can have a different age, vehicle and screening path.
- Passenger driving: Uber currently requires a valid Manitoba licence in the accepted classes, proof of work eligibility, vehicle registration and a Certificate of Inspection.
- Screening: Winnipeg requires a driver abstract, police information check with vulnerable-sector screening and a Child Abuse Registry application.
- Training: beginning in 2026, Winnipeg's rideshare bylaw requires specific accessible transportation, professional-driver and cultural-competency training.
- Uber Eats: delivery-only work follows a different requirements path, so prospective couriers should check the delivery flow rather than assuming all passenger-driver requirements apply.

If you want to deliver with Uber Eats
Uber's Canadian delivery guidance currently says car couriers generally need an accepted driver's licence for their location, valid insurance, proof of work eligibility and background screening. Bike or foot delivery can have different minimum ages and does not use the same vehicle-document path. Always choose the delivery option during signup and confirm the exact requirements Uber shows for your city.

If you want to drive passengers
Use the rideshare requirements above first. The exact promotion attached to a passenger referral can vary by market and account, so do not assume an offer displayed in one province will be identical in another.
