How to Recommend Useful AI Resources Without Sounding Spammy

Sharing a helpful resource can serve your audience. Dropping links without context cannot. The difference is whether the recommendation fits a real problem and helps the reader make a better decision.

You do not need technical language, a business, or a large audience. You need an honest reason for recommending the resource and one clear next step.

In plain English

Who this is for

Creators who share AI tools, music tips, guides, workflows, courses, or business resources.

The goal

Recommend something useful without sacrificing audience trust.

The standard

Your recommendation should still help even when the reader decides not to click or buy.

Start with the problem, not the link

A useful recommendation begins by naming what the person is trying to do or what is getting in their way. The link comes after the explanation.

If you cannot explain why a resource fits this audience, this problem, and this moment, you are not ready to recommend it. Excitement about a tool is not evidence that it is right for someone else.

Use this five-question recommendation test

  1. What problem is the person facing? Name it in language they would use.
  2. Have I genuinely used or researched this resource? Be clear about what you know first-hand and what you do not.
  3. Why does it fit this specific person? A good tool can still be a poor match.
  4. What can it reasonably help them do? Describe the useful job, not a guaranteed outcome.
  5. Have I disclosed the relationship and given one clear next step? Trust depends on both.
Jack Righteous rule: help first, sell second. The page, post, video, or email should remain useful if the reader ignores every link.

Spammy versus useful

Spammy Useful
“This AI tool is incredible. Sign up now.” “If inconsistent vocals are slowing your demo workflow, this tool may help you test voice ideas. Here is what I used it for, what it did well, and where it fell short.”
“Everyone needs this course.” “This course fits beginners who need a structured introduction to video editing. It may be too basic if you already edit regularly.”
“Use my link to support me.” “This is an affiliate link, so I may earn a commission. I am sharing it because it directly supports the workflow explained above.”
Five unrelated links at the end of a post. One recommendation tied to the reader’s immediate problem, with alternatives or limits when relevant.

Disclose the relationship clearly

If a link can earn you a commission, credit, discount, or other benefit, say so close to the recommendation. Do not hide the disclosure on a separate page or rely on vague language such as “partner link.”

A plain disclosure works: “This is an affiliate link. I may earn a commission or benefit if you use it.”

Do not promise what the resource cannot do

Do not promise sales, fame, income, legal protection, platform approval, or guaranteed results. Explain the useful job the resource can do, who it may fit, what it does not replace, and which terms or prices the reader should verify.

Match the resource to the creator’s actual problem

A long directory is rarely helpful. Use the smallest relevant set and confirm current pricing, eligibility, terms, and benefits on the service page before recommending it.

Creator problem Resources that may fit What to explain first
Creating or developing music and media Suno, BandLab, Musicfy, ElevenLabs, Atlabs The exact creative task, your real experience, and the tool’s limits.
Releasing music DistroKid What distribution covers, what the artist still controls, and current fees or terms.
Learning a missing skill Udemy The course level, instructor fit, curriculum, and whether a focused tutorial would be enough.
Building an owned store or landing page Shopify The cost, setup responsibility, and why an owned destination matters for this creator.

Turn genuine use into an original offer for your audience

An affiliate link is not your offer. After using a service, you can create an original tutorial, checklist, template, workshop, consultation, or setup guide that helps your audience use it for a specific purpose.

Your resource must remain your own work. Do not resell platform access, redistribute paid assets, imply that you represent the service, or promise results the service cannot guarantee.

Simple checklist before you publish

  • Can someone understand the problem and recommendation in one sentence?
  • Have you explained why this resource fits this audience?
  • Did you separate first-hand experience from research or company claims?
  • Is the next step easy to find?
  • If a link benefits you, is that relationship clearly disclosed?
  • Have you avoided promises you cannot guarantee?
  • Would the content still help if nobody clicked?

Best next step

Choose one useful resource and explain one problem it can reasonably help solve. If you cannot make the recommendation valuable without the link, keep working on the explanation before you publish.
