Write a Song for AI Music: Verse & Chorus
Gary WhittakerYou Already Have a Song Inside You
Lesson 1 (Phase 1): Two parts only — Verse and Chorus.
Let’s Start Simple
You do not need to be a musician to write a song.
You do not need to read music.
You do not need to study theory.
You only need a message and a memory.
Most songs have two main parts:
- A part that tells the story.
- A part that repeats the main idea.
Verse = tells the story.
Chorus = repeats the main message.
Today, we only focus on Verse and Chorus. That is enough.
Why Songs Repeat
Think about songs you’ve heard in your life.
There is usually one part you remember most. The part people sing along to. The part that carries the message.
That part is the Chorus.
Repetition is not a mistake.
Repetition is how a message becomes easy to remember.
See two quick examples of “story” vs “message”
Example A (Story = Verse idea)
“I moved to a new place and felt alone.”
Example A (Message = Chorus idea)
“You can start over, even late in life.”
Example B (Story = Verse idea)
“I argued with someone I loved and regretted it.”
Example B (Message = Chorus idea)
“Love lasts longer than anger.”
What a Very Simple Song Looks Like
Here is a basic example. It uses only Verse and Chorus.
[Verse]
I was young and full of pride
Certain I was always right
Time and love both worked on me
And slowly changed my sight
[Chorus]
Love lasts longer than anger
Love stays steady through the years
Love can soften any heart
Love is stronger than our fears
Nothing fancy. Just:
Story → Message
Want an even simpler version?
[Verse]
I learned this lesson slowly
Through days both good and hard
I made mistakes, I grew up
And carried every scar
[Chorus]
Keep going, keep believing
There is still time to grow
The heart can heal, the mind can change
And hope can start to show
Pause and Reflect
You do not need to be perfect.
- You do not need perfect rhymes.
- You do not need big words.
- You do not need to sound like anyone else.
Today you are only practicing one thing: organizing your words into two parts.
Your First Small Step
Answer this question in one simple sentence:
What is one truth you have learned in your life?
Examples:
- Family matters more than money.
- Kindness changes people.
- Patience saves relationships.
- Faith carried me through.
- It’s never too late to apologize.
Write one sentence. Just one. That sentence will become your Chorus idea in Lesson 2.
If you’re not sure what to write, use this simple starter
Fill in the blank:
I learned that ________________________________.
Example: “I learned that forgiveness is stronger than pride.”
Why We Use Labels Like [Verse] and [Chorus]
When you paste lyrics into an AI music program, it helps to show which part is which.
We do that with simple labels in brackets.
[Verse]
Your story lines here
[Chorus]
Your main message here
These labels are not “fancy tech.”
They are just clear signposts.

Tip: short lines are easier. You can edit later.
Tip: the Chorus repeats your main message.
When you paste into your AI music app, you will paste the output box — not the inputs.
Progress Check
If you understand these three things, you are doing well:
- A song has parts.
- The Verse tells the story.
- The Chorus repeats the main message.
That is today’s foundation.
FAQ
Do I have to rhyme?
No. Rhyming is optional. A clear message matters more than perfect rhymes.
What if I only write one or two lines?
That’s fine. Start small. In Lesson 2, we’ll expand one sentence into a simple Chorus.
What if my spelling or grammar isn’t perfect?
That’s okay. Your message is what matters. You can polish later, or not at all.
What if I don’t want to share personal memories?
You don’t have to. You can write about a lesson, a belief, or a simple story that feels safe to share.
Why are we using labels like [Verse]?
They help keep your song organized and make it easy to paste into an AI music program.
