Scene Four – “Just One Bite” | The First Fall Musical

Gary Whittaker

Scene Four — “Just One Bite [Eve’s Song]”

From The First Fall: A Musical Origin of Humanity • Written by Gary Whittaker (Jack Righteous)

Setting

Time: Late afternoon. The fire outside the homestead burns low. Abel’s repaired staff leans by the doorway. Jack Righteous rests nearby.

Dialogue

EVE: Take this to Abel, Cain. I fixed it through the night. The binding is tight and straight.

EVE: Jack knows the path. Follow him.

CAIN: I will.

EVE: One more thing. The lion you killed carried more than claws. Don’t keep its roar in your chest. Let the beast die with the beast.

CAIN: I understand.

EVE: Go now. Deliver the staff, then come back before dusk. Jack will show you the way.

Song — “Just One Bite [Eve’s Song] (v3)”

[Intro – Soft Reflection]
Love came like thunder in quiet air,
A whisper first, then everywhere.
It opened my eyes, it changed my breath,
It taught me life can feel like death.

[Verse 1]
In the garden of desire, we found our sweet temptation,
Underneath the shining tree, we felt creation’s vibration.
Your father’s hand found mine — the world began to spin,
And from one taste of knowing, love and truth rushed in.

[Chorus – Original, Restored]
Just one bite of that forbidden fruit,
And we embraced the knowledge of good and evil, it’s true.
In this paradise, we dance to the beat, lost in ecstasy,
Caught up in a love so fiery, it’s like a spell we cannot break free.

[Verse 2]
The taste was sweet, the fire was hot,
It bound our hearts, it shaped our thoughts.
From joy to ache, from peace to flame,
No love stays still — no soul the same.
We saw the stars begin to move,
We built the world through what we choose.
To love is power — not control,
It wakes the heart and costs the soul.

[Chorus – Return, Rising Energy]
Just one bite of that forbidden fruit,
And we embraced the knowledge of good and evil, it’s true.
In this paradise, we dance to the beat, lost in ecstasy,
Caught up in a love so fiery, it’s like a spell we cannot break free.

[Bridge – Foreshadowing / Subtle Warning]
It was the tree of both good and wrong,
Its roots grow deep, its pull is strong.
What feels like love can turn to need,
And envy blooms where hearts won’t heed.
One taste can bless, one look can burn,
Each soul must face the truth they learn.
Love gives the power, but tests the heart —
To know its light, you face its dark.

[Final Chorus – Expanded, World-Class Flow]
Just one bite of that forbidden fruit,
And the world awoke — both branch and root.
The night first shimmered, the fire first spoke,
And hearts remembered the vows they broke.
From that first flame, all love began,
Both joy and sorrow joined in man.
And though it cost — I’d taste again,
For love’s the wound that makes us human.

[Outro – Gentle Fade]
Love came like thunder, left like rain,
Still it blooms — again, again.

Post-Song Transition

Cain takes the staff. Jack Righteous rises and starts down the path. Cain follows.

Eve watches, uneasy, then turns to bank the coals. Distant thunder.
